Founder’s Story
We are sisters, born and raised with Dominican roots, brought up in a home where family was not just something you belonged to, it was something you built, protected, and poured yourself into every single day.
We grew up understanding that when you gathered, you showed up. You dressed up. Whether it was a Sunday family dinner, a birthday, or simply visiting a loved one, self expression through clothing was cherished. In our culture, getting dressed was reverence. It was a way of saying: this moment matters, and so do you. Through clothing, ordinary moments felt sacred, identity was celebrated, and tenderness was made visible.
When our nieces arrived, two tiny girls who instantly became the center of our world, dressing them became one of our greatest joys. When Elisa welcomed her baby Joseph and Diryn became his aunt, we searched for pieces worthy of this little one in our lives, but we kept coming up short. Joseph made us realize that the baby industry felt loud, commercialized, and cold. Garments lacked uniqueness, and options felt disposable rather than cherished.
We wanted more intention, more warmth. More of the feeling that everything around you had been chosen with love. Cuna is a collection rooted in that heritage and shaped by what we could not find: finely crafted garments defined by durability, natural breathability, and luxurious comfort for infants and children. Every piece chosen with the same care and intention a mother pours into everything she does.
We are so glad you are here. And we cannot wait to be a part of your story.
With love, Diryn and Elisa, the Founders of Cuna
